If you love nature, want to learn more about birds from experts, follow the migration of the songbirds near the Durankulak Lake, and have scientific interests related to bird ringing, join the camp for bird ringing in Durankulak.
The camp aims to study the migration of the birds along the West Black Sea migratory route “Via Pontica”. We do this by bird ringing. This is one of the simplest and most important methods for the study of birds and their migration. It allows people to follow their migration within a territory to and from their wintering grounds. Bird ringing is often the only way to follow the birds’ age span. It’s also used to find the age they reach sexual maturity and begin breeding. The method helps generate data for survival rates, causes of death, and population size for a given bird species. Some other goals of the camp are to educate new researchers and to ring birds. It also aims to educate volunteers of all ages on nature study and conservation.
