The main goal of the “Entrepreneurs in Science” program is to promote academic entrepreneurship and technology transfer. The program helps to build entrepreneurial thinking and skills that enable students, doctoral candidates, and young researchers to seek practical applications for their scientific work, establish successful partnerships, secure funding for their projects, register patents, or start their own companies.

Through the training, participants develop transferable skills which are valuable in any subsequent phase of scientific work or career development.

The “Entrepreneurs in Science” program is developed by the Karol Knowledge Foundation to support young Bulgarian researchers working on significant scientific topics and projects with practical applications.

The program consistsof two stages:

1. “Entrepreneurs in Science” Training

2. “Entrepreneur in Science” Award Competition with a prize fund of 30,000 BGN.

Who is eligible?

-Students developing a business idea based on scientific research;

-Doctoral candidates in regular, part-time, or distance learning programs;

-Scientists who have obtained their doctoral degree within 5 years prior to the application date for the competition.

The training program will take place from September 20 to December 6. The lectures will be held on Wednesdays, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the Karol library.The “Entrepreneur in Science” competition will be on December 13, 2023.

The deadline for submitting applications is September 3, 2023.
