
The interest in the open water swimming marathon has reached unprecedented levels. This year’s event is scheduled for July 15th, commencing at St. Anastasia Island, and concluding at the Pier of Burgas.
For the first time, this competition will be integrated into the sports calendar of the Bulgarian Swimming Sports Federation. It promises to be an international showdown, with not only Bulgarian swimmers but also numerous foreign athletes embracing the challenge of conquering a formidable 6,400 meters in open water. Adding to the prestige of the event, the legendary figure in world open water swimming, Petar Stoychev, has been invited as an official guest.
Just as in previous years, the top swimmers will receive well-deserved recognition:
– Ages 16-35: 1st place – 1100 leva, 2nd place – 700 leva, 3rd place – 500 leva, 4th place – 300 leva, 5th place – 200 leva, 6th place – 100 leva.
– Ages 36-50: 1st place – 300 leva, 2nd place – 250 leva, 3rd place – 200 leva.
– Ages at least 51: 1st place – 150 leva, 2nd place – 100 leva, 3rd place – 50 leva.
Participation in the marathon is open to anyone aged 16 or above who has registered on time and undergone a mandatory medical check-up. The check-up will be conducted on the event day, starting from 7:00 a.m. at the Maritime Station. Participants must sign a declaration confirming their ability to swim the distance independently. For those under 18 years old, parental consent and signature are required.
